Our Founder Sandra Spannan
see. studios was founded 1993 by artist Sandra Spannan in NYC. Sandra passed in 2021 after a 6 year valiant battle with cancer. The see. team, trained and mentored by Sandra, honor her legacy by continuing to provide the highest standards of craftsmanship and aesthetic sensibility on which see. studios was founded.
Sandra Spannan, a native of Germany who had lived in NYC since 1993, was a painter and gilder specializing in verre églomisé (glass gilding) as well as restoration and decorative finishes. Sandra is known for her renowned work on famous private interiors, set designs, landmark restorations, and large-scale commercial projects throughout the world. Her work at the historic Williamsburgh Savings Bank in Brooklyn, NY has won multiple awards. Sandra was a teacher and mentor of many and had taught numerous gilding workshops at the Museum of Arts and Design in NYC, through the Society of Gilders in Chicago, Dallas, and NYC.
